WELCOME TO THE SOUTHEASTERN WISCONSIN ASSOCIATION OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSES!

The Wisconsin Division of Public Health (DPH), through the Public Health Preparedness and Response to Bioterrorism Program, has

implemented an on-line volunteer

registration system called the

Wisconsin Emergency Assistance Volunteer Registry, or WEAVR.

The system collects and stores contact

information on volunteers interested in

filling critical response and recovery roles

following a major public health emergency.

Based on the information collected

from each volunteer, public health

officials will be able to use WEAVR

to identify those individuals willing to fill the specific volunteer roles determined

to be needed in a particular emergency.

If an emergency occurs where

volunteers are needed, public

health officials will use the

WEAVR registry to generate

a list of volunteers who will be

contacted based on the

information they provided.

Those contacted will be given

information on where to report

and the role that is needed, as

well as the option to accept or

decline the opportunity.

Training would be provided at the reporting site.

To access WEAVR through

HAN, log onto the Health Alert Network (HAN) https://www.han.wisc.edu/https://www.han.wisc.edu

and click on "MY HAN" on the

vertical navigation bar on the left side of the screen.

From there, select item number 3, Wisconsin Emergency Assistance Volunteer

Registry. If you are interested in

participating in WEAVR, please

select "yes" and hit the accept

button.

It is important to remember that:

1) WEAVR membership and volunteer

activities are in addition to any

professional or volunteer commitments

you may have already established.

2) You are the only person able

to change the contact information

provided. Please make any

changes to the data fields in the

WEAVR system as soon as

they occur.

For questions, comments,

or concerns regarding WEAVR, contact:

FYI

The final report and recommendations from the Governor's Health Worker Shortage Committee has been released and is posted on the DWD web site at:

http://www.dwd.state.wi.us/ghcwsc/

The report culminates four months of work by more than 90 diverse public and private partners, and includes goals and recommendations that focus on 4 areas:

- education,

- recruitment and retention of workers,

- re-design of the workplace, and

- ongoing leadership and structure for health workforce assessment and development

Similar to Turning Point, there is a common theme of state and community partnerships.
